An important gateway to the largest cities on the US-Mexico border, El Paso International Airport (ELP) is a single-terminal facility that features several major airlines and provides frequent flights to many US and Mexican cities. Serving over three million passengers a year, ELP is a modern airport with a great range of facilities and amenities for tourists, business people and the disabled.

The airport lies just 5 miles / 8 km to the northeast of central El Paso and next to both Montana Avenue and the Biggs Army Airfield. Currently the grounds are not only being used for commercial passenger flights, but also by NASA, as a training base of its up-and-coming astronauts, featuring a number of shuttle simulators.


Travel by road is the only method you can access El Paso International Airport, with the I-10 interstate and the US-54 highway being conveniently located nearby. There are many taxis, limousines, shuttles and regular buses providing convenient transfers between the airport and central El Paso, the San Jacinto Plaza District, and the historic village of Ysleta del Sur Pueblo.

Rental car agencies are well represented at El Paso Airport and traveling by car is the fastest and safest way to get around, making it the preferred transportation method of many visitors to the region. Nearby and over the Rio Grande, many visitors head to the Mexican city of Juarez, which is connected by a series of bridges. Tucson, Arizona lies directly west and next to the I-10.
